LETTER of INTRODUCTION

Greetings:

It is with great pleasure that I share with you my online portfolio. I am dedicated to innovative and effective instructional leadership focused on deepening student learning through the collaborative development of an interdisciplinary curriculum in a technology infused environment that is enriched and supported with community partnerships.

I have served as an educator in a variety of positions over the past twenty  years for St Johns County School District in Florida. I currently serve as Principal at Sebastian Middle School, a comprehensive middle school dedicated to inquiry. After moving to this school two years ago, I have led a transformative process of school improvement that integrated the existing AVID program into a new school wide STEAM program that has accelerated the academic gains of our students. I dedicate my work to the belief that ALL students can and will learn at high levels and develop the skills to thrive in our global, multicultural human community.

I believe my experience across all levels has provided me  a unique perspective and because on that I’ve framed a deep commitment to a cycle of formative assessments, data analysis, interventions, extensions, and summative testing as part our Professional Learning Culture.  I also feel it so important to build teacher leaders in our building so as to ensure a multi-tiered approach to both teaching and learning.

Finally, the idea of student voice is so important to the culture of a school and I see it as vital to build a support student leadership groups and to ensure that students have a say in their education.  The middle years are so important in the developmental process hence the value of relationship building.

You will see from my experience that I have worked to create the right learning environment whilst building a vision at the four schools I’ve lead.
